My Thoughts- Part 1--Body Image

Hello everyone!

I was thinking the other day about some things I've noticed lately, and I would really love to hear other people's opinions on these things. What better way to get that than post it on my blog! If you read these series of posts I'm going to be doing, I would love love love for you to comment and give me your opinion. You can even do a post on it, and I would love to read it (You could possible add my link in that post too hint :P Just kidding!) (:

Anyway, I'm just going to post a few, possibly three. Lately I've seen these as a huge problem, maybe not so big, but still a large one in the world.

My first post? Body Image.

No, this is not about how you should love yourself. A little of it is, but not completely.

Lately, I will scroll through tumblr/facebook/wittyprofiles.com/etc. and see at least one post/comment on "I wish I was skinnier." "Need to lose weight." Etc.

I've seen those, but then again I also see some like-

"Real men go for curves, only dogs go for bones." "Skinny is so overrated."

That? That is going to far. I can understand the one's about how you should love yourself. I even tell my curvier friends who think they're fat, um no. None of them are "fat". And really, who are we to define that word? Does that word even have a definite definition?

But the thing is, some of us are naturally skinny. I would LOVE to have a little bit of meat on me. I try all the time. Lately, I've actually been losing weight...

My best friend posted the "Real men" one on Facebook a few weeks ago. I almost cried. She knows how I feel. It took me years to be okay with my legs because I thought they were huge, and then one day I got the picture and now I'm having to be okay with being super skinny. And I hate!! it when people walk up and start talking about my skinniness.

Reading those hit so close to home. Bringing up other people who believe they are big is fine. It's great! They need to know that they don't have to be stick thin to be pretty or wanted. But putting down people of the opposite body shape? That is so not okay.

What I'm saying? Be careful what you say. You may be skinny and that doesn't bother you, but some of us struggle with it. And I haven't seen so far anyone stand up for the skinny one's being put down. I have maybe twice.

All body shapes are beautiful.

And I honestly believe everyone is beautiful.

Much Love!(:
-Bree♥

  1. I think that body image can be hard, whatever size or shape you are. Most of us want to look different than we do, so sometimes it feels like there is no winning, unfortunately!

  2. You are such an inspiration, Bree! I definitely know what you mean. One of my sisters and I have a curvy body type while my younger twin sisters inherited the tall, lanky gene. You are not alone. :)

  3. I've had a very hard time accepting my body image and I believe that people shouldnt focus on what they look like. Life isn't about being pretty or skinny. Life is about living the life you wanted and having fun along the way. Society has made it especially hard for people to accept themselves because of all the photo shopped woman on magazines and rules on how to be pretty. In reality none of that really matters, what matters in life is becoming who you want to be and fullfilling your dreams. :) And thanks bree, your freaking epic.
