Guest Post by Sydney: How amazing God is

The last seven months of my life has been full of challenges. In December on a Saturday night my moms phone rang. My moms phone rings all of the time! We were in the middle of a movie so she just ignored it. Once the movie was over she got her phone and say Chalsie (my uncle Nick’s girlfriend) had called. “Well why in the world would Chalsie be calling”, we thought? Awkward. So my mom called her back only to hear this. My uncle, of 25 years of age, got into a horrific accident. He was working on an oil rig, wiping down the pipes as they are pulling them up. His rag got caught on the pipe and he went spinning! Every time he spun around, his legs hit the pipe right beside him. His buddy turn the spinning pipe off but the momentum kept him spinning. In the end he broke his right arm, both his legs were shattered, and some ribs cracked which caused internal bleeding and a collapsed lung. This all happened in Dickinson, North Dakota which is about 7-8 hours away from my moms house. She didn’t know what to do. Does just she go? Does her, my sister, and I go? After sending multiple prayer chains via txt message we went to sleep.

The next morning we went to church because my mom had to play piano for worship. London, my little sister, didn't really know what was going on but knew it wasn’t good. My mom and I got lots and lots of hugs and people saying they were praying for us which is very comforting! After calling my dad (my parents got divorced when I was four) he let me go with. So London, my mom and I came home after church and literally had 5 minutes to pack our bags! We packed up and started on what would be a verrryyyyyy long drive. Once we got there we were greeted by family with lots of hugs and “Hey sweetheart”s. I got to go see him. The moment I saw him I bursted into tears! His whole body was puffed up SO much! He was connected to so many machines. I couldn't believe that God would let this happen to such a nice man! What did he do wrong?! I was angry and mad at God! We drove home on Wednesday after my mom did some stuff, releasing Nick from the hospital to fly down to HCMC, a hospital not far from our house. He was here for a month and getting better.

*** Fast forward to now. ***

Nick is now walking with a cane! Docs didn't think he’d be walking anytime soon, but he had a motivation! Chalsie and Nick just had a baby boy! Corbin. He is a handsome baby boy and a future heart-breaker! Ive got to babysit him twice already when they have came down for doctor appointments and he is just a blessing!

In the end I thanked God so much for letting Nick stay here with us. God is the most powerful man, ever! And without him, who knows... I dont even want to think about it, and honestly this situation has brought me so close to Him!
